There was a "bomb scare" in Boston. It wasn't a real bomb scare. 2 to 3 weeks ago ads had been placed around Boston, as well as around 9 other cities including NYC, Philly, LA and other major cities. They were ads for Aqua Teen Hunger Force. More specifically, they were pictures of Err, the Mooninite, made out of lights. So it's a bunch of LED's. That have been around for at least 2 weeks. And are in 9 other cities. But someone on the T saw one of these and thought it was a bomb. The bomb squad was brought out and instead of checking what these were, they blew up a few of them and continued to block traffic and close down bridges.
Now they are suing Turner Broadcasting and have arrested the artist that was hired by Turner to put the images up. And they are threatening to arrest more. Because Boston is full of people that apparently prefer the shoot first and ask questions later.
Of course Fox Local News keeps calling them "packages" (which they aren't; they're magnetic LED lights) and calling the whole ad campaign a "hoax" (which it isn't, since it was an ad campaign and not a bomb hoax).
And again these have been up for 2-3 weeks. If they were really bombs, we'd be fucked. Now they're going on about how stupid it was for Turner to do this and how they didn't think this through. Seriously, it's times like these that really, really, really want to move out of this city.
